TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 5.3 magnitude quake was registered near Puerto Madero Monday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 02:20 UTC (20:20 local time). The epicenter was situated roughly 90 km west-southwest of Puerto Madero, at a depth of 35 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later upgraded it to 5.3.

Last week’s quake

Last week, another magnitude 4.6 tremor was centered in the area. The event was also detected close to Puerto Madero, three days ago.
