The National Hurricane Center’s 4 a.m. Saturday update reported that Tropical Storm Jerry is in the Atlantic Ocean, 435 miles north of the Northern Leeward Islands and 545 miles south of Bermuda. Packing maximum sustained winds of 60 mph, it is tracking north at 16 mph.
“Some gradual weakening is forecast over the next few days”, analysts stated.
Hazards affecting land
Surf. Swells generated by Jerry are affecting the Leeward Islands, Windward Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, likely causing life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. These swells are expected to spread toward the Bahamas this morning.
