System name: Barry

The National Hurricane Center issued the last advisory for the remnant system at 4 am Monday. The tropical depression named Barry developed into a remnant with winds of 30 mph. Barry was previously forecasted as a tropical depression but has since gained strength. Remnants of Barry are 100 miles northwest of Tampico Mexico. The system is moving to the northwest at 12 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

Yesterday (Sunday)

The system had transformed into a tropical storm and was officially named Tropical Storm Barry. It was later downgraded to a tropical depression with sustained winds of 30 mph. The name gain was first announced in yesterday’s 10 a.m. update.

Hazards affecting land

Rainfall. The remnants of Barry are expected to produce additional rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches, with isolated maximum totals of 8 inches, across portions of the Mexican states of San Luis Potosi and Tamaulipas through today. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas of steep terrain.
