On Thursday at 2:51 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning valid for Friday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek and San Luis Valley including Alamosa/Del Norte/Fort Garland/Saguache.

Winds are expected to be northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 11%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution and avoid any outdoor burning,” comments the NWS.
