An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 1:36 a.m. valid for Wednesday between noon and 8 p.m. for San Luis Valley including Alamosa/Del Norte/Fort Garland/Saguache.

Winds are forecasted to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity as low as 7%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” says the NWS.
