The National Weather Service released an updated special weather statement at 4:28 p.m. on Tuesday until 5:15 p.m. for North Douglas County below 6,000 feet/Denver/West Adams and Arapahoe counties/East Broomfield County and Central and South Weld County.
Residents can be ready for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
“At 4:28 p.m., Doppler radar tracked developing showers near Denver International Airport, along a well defined north to south surface boundary. Brief landspouts may develop along this boundary in association with high-based showers or thunderstorms,” says the NWS. “Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”
Locations impacted by the alert include Aurora, northeastern Commerce City, Brighton, Denver International Airport, D.I.A Terminal, Concourses, Fort Lupton, Lochbuie, Platteville, Gilcrest, Barr Lake, Todd Creek, Watkins and Buckley SFB and Wattenburg.
