CEBU, Central Visayas — A 5.8 magnitude quake was detected close to Lapaz Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 17:05 UTC (01:05 local time), was centered about 3 km south of Lapaz. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.7 event, but later upgraded it to 5.8.
