NIUATOPUTAPU, Niuas — A 5.7 magnitude quake jolted near Hihifo on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 06:02 UTC (18:02 local time). The epicenter was approximately 106 km east-northeast of Hihifo, at a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.8 but later downgraded to 5.7.
