At 5:32 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service reported a local area emergency in effect until 8:45 p.m. for El Paso County.

“The following message is transmitted at the request of the Colorado EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY Pueblo Colorado. The following message is transmitted at the request of 200265, Colorado Springs Police Department. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has issued an EVACUATION ORDER for a one-half mile radius surrounding the intersection of N Curtis Road and Garrett Road due to a FIRE near N Curtis Road and Garrett Road. Everyone in this area is ordered to EVACUATE NOW,” says the NWS.
