System name: Alvin

On Saturday at 10 am, the National Hurricane Center issued the last advisory for the post-tropical cyclone system. The tropical storm named Alvin developed into a post-tropical cyclone with winds of 35 mph. Alvin was previously forecasted as a tropical storm but has since gained strength. Post Tropical Cyclone Alvin is currently at the Pacific Ocean, 155 miles south of the Southern Tip of Baja California. With maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, the system is moving north at 9 mph.

“Additional weakening is expected today and the low is forecast to dissipate by Sunday” meteorologists noted.

Hazards affecting land

Surf. Swells generated by this system will affect portions of the coasts of west-central Mexico and the southern Baja California Peninsula through the weekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
