The National Hurricane Center’s 4 a.m. Thursday advisory reported that Tropical Storm Gabrielle is in the Atlantic Ocean, 845 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands. Packing maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, it is tracking west-northwest at 15 mph.
“Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours, but some gradual intensification is forecast late in the weekend”, analysts explained.

Yesterday (Wednesday) at 4 am, the National Hurricane Center published the first advisory for a tropical depression.
The tropical depression named Gabrielle developed into a tropical storm with winds of 45 mph. Gabrielle was previously forecasted as a tropical depression but has since gained strength. Yesterday’s 10 a.m. report was the first to confirm the system’s new name.
