At 10 p.m. Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Tropical Storm Fernand is in the Atlantic Ocean, 570 miles south of Cape Race Newfoundland. With maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, the system is moving northeast at 12 mph.

“An acceleration toward the east-northeast is expected during the next couple of days”, forecasters noted. “Little change in strength is expected on Wednesday, but Fernand is likely to become post-tropical by Wednesday night.” They also said “The low is expected to dissipate by Thursday night.”
