System name: Chantal

At 10 pm Monday, the National Hurricane Center released the final advisory for the post-tropical cyclone system. Chantal became a post-tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 25 mph after intensifying from a tropical depression. Chantal first crossed North Carolina, left Delaware and headed to the Atlantic Ocean. Post Tropical Cyclone Chantal is currently in the Atlantic Ocean, 85 miles northeast of Cape May New Jersey and 220 miles west-southwest of Nantucket Massachusetts. With maximum sustained winds of 25 mph, the system is moving northeast at 25 mph.

Today, Chantal found new strength and has evolved from a tropical depression into a post-tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 25 mph.

Chantal became a tropical depression with sustained winds of 25 mph after intensifying from a tropical storm.

Hazards affecting land

Rainfall. Post-Tropical Cyclone Chantal could produce an additional inch of rain across portions of New Jersey and Long Island Monday tonight into Tuesday morning, with an inch or two of rain being possible across portions of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard,

And Nantucket early Tuesday morning. Any flash flooding would be isolated.
