According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Wednesday morning.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 21:52 UTC (08:52 local time), was centered approximately 118 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 35 km.
