Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 hits area close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on July 30

A 5.1 magnitude quake was reported close to Severo-Kuril’sk Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the region at 04:16 UTC (15:16 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 153 km east-southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
