A 5.1 magnitude quake was registered near Sangay Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 00:49 UTC (08:49 local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake jolted at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter approximately 14 km west of Sangay.
