Update: High surf advisory in place for Ventura County Beaches until Saturday midday

Published Mar 28, 2025

On Friday at 1:03 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated high surf advisory in effect until Saturday at 11 a.m. for Ventura County Beaches.

The NWS states to expect, “Large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet with local sets to 14 feet and dangerous rip currents.”

“There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore,” explains the NWS. “Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly locations in such conditions, so stay off the rocks.”
