The National Hurricane Center’s 4 a.m. Friday advisory reported that Humberto found new strength and had evolved from a tropical storm into a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 mph. Category 1 Hurricane Humberto is in the Atlantic Ocean, 465 miles northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. The hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, is moving northwest at 3 mph.

“Significant strengthening is forecast, and Humberto is expected to become a major hurricane this weekend”, forecasters wrote about the hurricane.
