The National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday valid for Saturday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek.

Residents can expect winds to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 6%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
