Fremont County and San Luis Valley placed under a fire weather watch Wednesday – high fire danger

On Tuesday at 12:35 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Wednesday between noon and 9 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek and San Luis Valley including Alamosa/Del Norte/Fort Garland/Saguache.

Expect winds to be northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity 5 to 10%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
