Fire weather watch issued for the Eastern Plains for Tuesday, increased fire danger

A fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Monday at 1:43 p.m. valid for Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Northeast Weld County as well as Logan, Washington and Phillips counties.

Winds are expected to be west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 13 percent.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
