The National Weather Service released a fire weather watch at 3:06 a.m. on Sunday valid for Tuesday between noon and 7 p.m. for Pueblo County including Pueblo, Otero County including La Junta and Western Comanche Grasslands and Eastern Las Animas County including Pinon Canyon.
Winds are forecasted to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph and relative humidity as low as 11 percent.
“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” says the NWS.
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
