On Friday at 2:40 p.m. a fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service valid for Saturday between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. The watch is for Coastal Indian River, Coastal St. Lucie, Coastal Martin, Inland Indian River, Inland St. Lucie, Inland Martin, Inland Southern Brevard, Mainland Southern Brevard and Southern Brevard Barrier Islands as well as Okeechobee County.
Winds are expected to be north-northwest wind around 15mph with gusts to 20-25mph and humidity 28 to 35 percent.
“Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” states the NWS.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
