Update: Fire weather watch issued for Southwest Colorado for Saturday and Sunday – increased fire danger

An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 1:36 a.m. valid from Saturday 9 a.m. until Sunday midnight for Southwest Colorado Upper East Forecast Area.

Expect winds to be southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity 8 to 13 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
