On Thursday at 1:37 a.m. an updated fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service valid for Friday between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. for Huerfano County including Walsenburg and Western Las Animas County including Trinidad and Thatcher.
Expect winds to be for Thursday, east to southeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. For Friday, west to southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 9%.
“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
