Fire weather watch issued for Fremont County for Sunday, gusts up to 40 mph

On Saturday at 3:26 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Sunday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek.

Winds are expected to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 7 percent.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
