An updated fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 9:09 p.m. valid from Wednesday 10 a.m. until Thursday midnight for Prowers County including Lamar.

Winds are forecasted to be south 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 8%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” adds the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
