An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 9:05 p.m. valid for Tuesday between noon and 8 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek and Huerfano County including Walsenburg.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and relative humidity as low as 7%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” adds the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
