At 11:44 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch valid for Monday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek.

Expect winds to be southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 13 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
