Fire weather watch in place for Crowley County and Otero County for Saturday

A fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Friday at 3:13 a.m. valid for Saturday between noon and 8 p.m. for Crowley County including Ordway and Otero County including La Junta and Western Comanche Grasslands.

Winds are forecasted to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 14 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
