An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 7:13 a.m. valid for Monday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. for Cheyenne County.

Expect winds to be southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph for Sunday. West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph for Monday and relative humidity as low as 10 to 12 percent for both Sunday and Monday.

“Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” describes the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
