On Saturday at 4:51 p.m. an updated fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service valid for Sunday between noon and 8 p.m. for Yuma County.

Winds are forecasted to be northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 15 percent.

“Dry fuels and breezy northwest winds will support rapid fire growth along and north of Highway 36 Sunday afternoon,” according to the NWS. “Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.”

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
