The National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch at 7:53 p.m. on Wednesday valid for Friday between noon and 10 p.m. for the Western Slope.
Expect winds to be southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph and relative humidity 10 to 15 percent.
“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” explains the NWS.

• Paradox Valley
• Northern San Juan
• North Fork
• Gunnison Basin
• Southwest Colorado Upper West Forecast Area
• Southwest Colorado Upper East Forecast Area
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
