At 12:52 a.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service released a fire weather watch valid for Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for Southern El Paso County including Fort Carson and Colorado Springs, Crowley County including Ordway and Otero County including La Junta and Western Comanche Grasslands.
Winds are forecasted to be west 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 10 percent.
“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” describes the NWS.
According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
