On Thursday at 10:37 p.m. a fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service valid for Saturday between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. for Yuma, Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties.

Expect winds to be south 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity as low as 12%.

“Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control,” comments the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
