Fire weather watch for Teller County for Sunday – gusts up to 50 mph

A fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 10 a.m. valid for Sunday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.

Expect winds to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and relative humidity 10 to 15%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
