Fire weather watch for Southwest Colorado for Thursday – gusts up to 30 mph

The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch at 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday valid for Thursday between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. for Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity 10 to 15 percent.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” states the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
