Update: Fire weather watch for San Juan and Gunnison Basin for Monday and Tuesday – gusts reaching 45 mph

At 8:57 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued an updated fire weather watch valid from Monday 10 a.m. until Tuesday 10 p.m. for Northern San Juan and Gunnison Basin.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity 11 to 16%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” adds the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
