At 12:12 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service released a fire weather watch valid for Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Central and Southeast Park County.

The NWS states that the warning was issued for wind and low relative humidity. Winds are expected to be west 10 to 20 mph with gusts 25 to 30 mph and relative humidity as low as 9% today, and as low as 12% on Wednesday.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
