On Saturday at 2 p.m. an updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid for Sunday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for Boulder/Jefferson counties below 6,000 feet/West Broomfield County.
Winds are expected to be west 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph near the base of the foothills and relative humidity as low as 13 percent.
“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” adds the NWS.
A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
