A fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 3:07 a.m. valid for Monday between noon and 6 p.m. for Southern El Paso County including Fort Carson and Colorado Springs, Pueblo County including Pueblo and Huerfano County including Walsenburg.

Residents can expect winds to be west 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and relative humidity as low as 14 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” says the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
