Fire weather watch affecting Southern Front Range and Huerfano County Monday – high fire danger

On Sunday at 12:32 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch valid for Monday between noon and 7 p.m. for Southern Front Range including Sangre De Cristo Mountains/Wet Mountains/La Veta Pass and Huerfano County including Walsenburg.

Expect winds to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph and relative humidity as low as 14%.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
