An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 2:43 a.m. valid for Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Sedgwick and Phillips counties.

Winds are forecasted to be northwest 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph and relative humidity as low as 20 percent.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
