A fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Friday at 2:44 a.m. valid for Saturday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Logan, Washington, Sedgwick and Phillips counties.

Residents can expect winds to be northwest 35 to 45 mph with gusts around 65 mph today. northwest winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts around 45 mph Saturday and relative humidity as low as 18 percent today, and down as low as 12 percent Saturday.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” says the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
