At 11:54 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid from Thursday 10 a.m. until Friday 6 a.m. for Larimer County below 6,000 feet/Northwest Weld County and Boulder/Jefferson counties below 6,000 feet/West Broomfield County.

Winds are expected to be west 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 80 mph near the base of the foothills. West 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph closer to the I-25 corridor and relative humidity as low as 13%.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
