An updated fire weather watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 2:43 a.m. valid for Monday between noon and 8 p.m. for Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area, Paradox Valley and North Fork.

Winds are forecasted to be southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph and relative humidity 7 to 12%.

“Elevated fire danger is expected. Fires will catch and spread rapidly and erratically,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
