Update: Expect heavy snow in Cheyenne County until 1 a.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued an updated report at 12:21 a.m. on Wednesday for heavy snow until 1 a.m. for Cheyenne County.

“At 12:20 a.m., an area of heavy snow was located along a line extending from 9 miles south of Ruleton to 12 miles north of Towner. Movement was southeast at 35 mph. Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph are possible with this area of heavy snow,” according to the NWS.

Locations impacted by the alert include Sharon Springs, Wallace, Weskan and Arapahoe. Visibilities will drop quickly to near zero in this area of heavy snow A winter weather advisory is in effect for the area. Please monitor local media outlets and the national weather service for further statements icy roads are possible as the snow melts on the roads then quickly refreezes.
