SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.3 magnitude quake was registered close to Borrego Springs Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the region at 6:39 a.m. It occurred at a depth of 7 miles with the epicenter positioned roughly 10 miles northeast of Borrego Springs.

Over the last week, the area has experienced six tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or above. The biggest, a 3.7 magnitude quake, was reported in the same region prior to this quake.
