A 5.2 magnitude quake was registered near Severo-Kuril’sk Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 17:43 UTC (05:43 local time), was centered approximately 57 km east-northeast of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 79 km.
