Update: June 19 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake registered close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia

A 5.2 magnitude quake jolted close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Friday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor hit the area at 08:03 UTC (19:03 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 166 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Tremors last week

During the past week, the region has experienced four quakes of magnitude 2.5 or above. The most significant was a 6.6 magnitude earthquake recorded in the same region prior to this quake.
